NHS Media Center

Goals

The goal of the Media Center is to support teachers in their instruction and help students "acquire the skills, understandings, and attitudes which will promote sound character, responsible citizenship, intellectual sufficiency, and personal fulfillment in our ever-changing technological society" (School Board Policies LBOE, IFBD/IF, IF)

Objectives

Students may come to the Media Center before or after school with out a pass. During lunch students must sign in and remain for the entire lunch period. No food or drink, including water, is allowed in the Media Center. Students wishing to eat should do so in the cafeteria, then come to the M.C. During class time students must have a pass from their teacher with the following: name, date, time and assignment. Students must sign in and out when in the M.C. during regular class time. All students must report back to their class for dismissal.

Mrs. Drake has been teaching for 14 years. She earned her BA in Exercise Science and Physical Education from the University of North Georgia, M.Ed. in Media And Instructional Technology from the University of West Georgia and Ed.S. in Curriculum from Lincoln Memorial University. Mrs. Drake taught P.E.,4th grade and was the Media Specialist at Newnan Crossing Elementary before transferring to Newnan High School as Media Specialist.

Ms. Stillwell has been a teacher and Media Specialist for 26 years and is also a National Board Certified Teacher. She earned her BA in Elementary Education at Northern Kentucky University. She earned her M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education and Media & Technology, and her Ed.S. in Media & Technology at the University of West Georgia. Ms. Stillwell taught K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades before transferring to Newnan High School as Media Specialist.

Student ID

Students may check out up to two books at a time. A student ID or other photo ID is required to check out materials. Check out period is two weeks. Books may be renewed for an additional two weeks.

Late fines are ten cents per day. There are no fine forgiveness days. All fines for lost or late books must be paid before students will receive their report cards. Seniors must clear all fines and lost book charges to participate in the graduation ceremony.

No food or drink is allowed in the Media Center. There is a water fountain available for students to use.
